Es DJ de música trance y productor, conocido a nivel mundial, En el 2007 fue catalogado como el segundo DJ mejor del mundo por TheDjlist y el cuarto mejor DJ del mundo según DJmag, en los años 2005 y 2006 ocupo el primer lugar en las votaciones de DJmag; Se dice que gracias a él, la música trance ha vuelto a estar de moda en Inglaterra.

Su nombre real es “Matthias Paul”, nació el 16 de diciembre de 1971, en Eisenhüttenstadt, Alemania, en plena guerra fría.

La forma en que inicio su carrera es muy particular, Eisenhüttenstadt (ciudad natal) pertenecía a República Democrática Alemana, por lo cual se veía obligado a conseguir la música por medio de contrabando, inicio haciendo mezclas para sus amigos, al caer el muro de Berlín empieza a darse a conocer.

Comenzó su carrera en 1991, en Berlín en el club “Turbine”, gracias al promotor de las fiestas “Dubmission”, cuando llegó a Berlín era la época de las primeras fiestas techno, en 1992 lanza su primera producción “Visions of Shiva” en colaboración con “Cosmic Baby” y lanzo su primer álbum en 1993 “45 RPM”; para 1997 ya había lanzado su segundo álbum “Seven Ways”. Rrápidamente consiguió muchos fans en Europa y su fama le ha llevado a casi todos los clubs más importantes del mundo.

Todo su esfuerzo fue recompensado en 1999 cuando el DJ Magazin lo nombro como el mejor productor internacional; además fue nombrado mejor Dj internacional en los premios Muzik y mejor Dj internacional por el The Ministry of Sound Magazin.
Se dice que gracias a él, la música trance ha vuelto a estar de moda en Inglaterra.

Algo que causo impacto en el mundo fue cuando el declaro su rechazo total a las drogas, pero al contrario de los que muchos pensaron (alejaría a muchos fans), esto llevo a que muchos de sus fan empezaran a utilizar camisetas con el logo “No Pills, Pure PvD” “No píldoras, Puro PvD”, para sus rumbas.
